Home Sweet Home, Part VII

As our living room starts to fill with boxes of things for the new house, and we schedule Maisy's babysitter for extra hours on the weekend to allow us to sort through the belongings we've stuffed away in the basement, garage, and assorted closets, the upcoming move to our house seems real. Thirty-nine days. But who's counting?

Last week the guys cleared their equipment out of the house so the floors could be stained. I've grown so used to seeing the house as a construction site, as a project, as our contractor's office, that it is quite different to see it essentially empty. I got a preview of the floors today, walking around barefoot with our contractor so as not to mar the floor before the stain is fully set and sealed.

Standing at the rear of the great room, looking toward the living room.

Standing in the living room doorway, looking toward the staircase.

Thirty-nine days. Wow.
